Felix Afriyie

Felix Afriyie is a senior at Mount Vernon High School. He is person who does his best in everything he undertake. He also makes sure to learn from every experience. In his years as an International Baccalaureate Diploma student at Mount Vernon high school, Felix has been a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, the Science Honor Society and the Math team. Felix has been a major part of these organizations at Mount Vernon through his determination in working hard and developing a better community around his school. Along with these organizations, Felix is also a member of the Mount Vernon Varsity Soccer Team and the Marching Band. The leadership experiences that Felix has obtained as a prodigious member especially on the soccer team has been beneficial in keeping focus in striving for a successful future. Additionally, Felix also works as a server at Greenspring Retirement home, where he has relied on his leadership ability to improve his work ethics and communication skills.

In August, Felix will be attending Bucknell University on a scholarship from the Posse leadership foundation. He plans on becoming a neurosurgeon with a doctorate degree from the University of John Hopkins. As the fifth child in a family of seven children from Ghana, Felix always looks at his successes as a reflection of his family's hard work. Felix has always seen that, failures will always be part of his life, but it is how he recovers from those failures that determine who he really is. He thanks all the teachers and mentors who have always been a supportive base for his educational path. All in all, Felix is determined to be the first person in his family to go to all four years of college where he can continue the habit of doing his best and learning from a new set of experiences.
